I would like to add an important detail: this likely refers to the geological nature of the rocks. In fact, we are looking at a fossil beach. The mountain formation visible in the picture is a remnant of what was once a coastline. Nowadays, this fossil beach lies far inland, at a considerable distance from the present-day shoreline, as a result of long-term geological processes such as plate tectonics.
